Salt and Light was a bus ministry that provided food, clothing, support and prayer to the women and men on the streets of Glasgow. Every Thursday evening from 8pm at the Bellgrove Hotel, they offered practical help and support to the lost and broken in Glasgow, sharing the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ.
On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of each week 12-4pm we operated from our Drop In at Butterbiggins Road in Govanhill. There we allowed service users to have a chill out time with a hot drink and something to eat a chance to talk or receive advice or an opportunity to receive Prayer. Several men and women, following support from the Salt and Light team, have broken free from the addictions which had them bound and moved on to find new life and hope
They have also commented that when they where in the drop in they where not drinking or taking drugs
Salt and Light provides an outreach that expresses the compassionate heart of God as a loving Father, where everyone is accepted. Salt and Light is committed to helping and empowering people to fulfil their destiny, changing their lives forever.
Salt and Light has featured in a number of newspaper articles, radio programmes and tv, including the BBC’s Songs of Praise and BBC Radio Scotland’s Let’s Do The Show Right Here, Ross Kemp Extreme World Glasgow.
There is also an increase once again in the amount of girls working in prostitution, with some as young as 16. We have built up many relationships over the years with our service users, and are privileged to have some of the guys and girls who originally used our service now coming to volunteer.
